ArtsMemphis was founded in 1963 with the express purpose of helping to support and sustain the city's core arts institutions. In FY11 we allocated $2.8 million to the arts community, and over the past 10 years we have given more than $40 million in grant funding to support arts organizations and arts education.
These groups must be 501(c)3 organizations with an active board of directors, audited financial statements and a published season of at least three events. The organizations must also submit quarterly narrative, attendance and financial reports in a timely fashion.
