If your tags have expired or you are renewing your tags and live in Shelby County:

• Visit a City of Memphis Motor Vehicle Inspection station to have your car inspected:

•   Once your car has passed inspection, take your renewal form that you received in the mail and your inspection form to the nearest Shelby County Clerk's office.

•  The entire amount of the registration plus specialty/personalized fees can be paid at the County Clerk's office,. When you arrive, present your forms to the County Clerk representative and request a specialty license plate. License plates that support the Tennessee Arts Commission are the three arts plates and collegiate plates. Each plate costs $35 and personalization costs $70. If your tags are current but you would like to obtain a specialty license plate:
